We started with the design as shown below. However, the bridge could barely sustain any weight and was unstable.

The new bridge design we had, as shown below, was much stronger and stabler as the supports were reinforced and the deck and the part on top of the bridge was reduced to make the bridge lighter.

The idea behind our bridge is that the diagonal supports will spread the weight out, while the horizontal supports will keep the entire bridge from falling inwards or bending too much. This is an improvement from the previous design, where there were vertical supports that were impractical and didn't support much, and the bottom half was completely unneeded, except that it could add on to the stability.
